April Teacher Certification Tests Results Released
Malden - The results of the latest round of the Massachusetts Educator Certification Tests have been released, with 61% of first-time test takers passing all three parts of the exam.
Of the first-time test takers who took all parts of the certification test on April 7, 60.5% passed both the communication and literacy skills (reading and writing) and subject knowledge tests, roughly equal to the 62% who passed the January test.
On the Communication and Literacy Skills tests, 67.4% of first-time test takers passed both the Reading and Writing subtests, with 76.7% passing Reading and 78.2% passing Writing. Some 70.9% passed their subject tests.

Specifically, the number and percentage of passing candidates on the Early Childhood test increased from 198 test takers to 280 test takers, and from 74% passing to 76% passing. For the Social Studies test 133 candidates took the test in April with 71% passing, as compared to 89 candidates in January with 66% passing. The Reading subject test had an increase in test takers from 24 to 62 and an increase in the percent passing from 70% to 87%.
This was the thirteenth test administration for prospective educators in Massachusetts. The total number of test takers was 7,607.
