Statement by Education Commissioner David P. Driscoll on the April 28 House Vote on the Consolidated Amendment on Charter Schools

MALDEN - “This moratorium is a mistake, and the timing could not be worse. If this becomes law, it would trample on the rights of parents to make thoughtful public school choices for their children. While I understand the need to look at how we are currently funding charter schools, this action would not just stop us from moving forward, it would reach back to undo decisions parents have already made. That is not only unfair, it’s inexcusable.”
