WIOA Draft State Plan Public Meeting Info and Registration

February 9, 2016

Dear Program Directors and Staff, You are invited to review the draft Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Massachusetts Combined State Plan and provide comments and feedback through in-person public meetings, or online. Please visit the Massachusetts WIOA State Plan website (or read below) for more information.

The Massachusetts WIOA State Plan is available for public review and comment through February 22, 2016.

The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) was signed into law on July 22, 2014 and is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. Massachusetts is required to develop a four-year strategic plan that brings together in a collaborative effort federally funded programs that provide employment and training services for adults, dislocated workers, youth and veterans, adult education and literacy programs, vocational rehabilitation programs that assist individuals with disabilities in obtaining employment, and employment programs for those on public assistance and or with barriers to employment. The Massachusetts WIOA Combined State Plan represents the combined efforts of several state and local partners to provide an effective and efficient workforce system for the Commonwealth. State agencies contributing to the plan include:
  • Executive Office Labor and Workforce Development
    • Department of Career Service
    • Department of Unemployment Assistance
  • Executive Office of Education
    • Adult and Community Learning Services / Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
    • Department of Higher Education
  • Executive Office of Health and Human Service
    • Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission
    • Massachusetts Commission for the Blind
    • Department of Transitional Assistance
    • Executive Office of Elder Affairs
We want to hear your thoughts and your feedback on the draft WIOA Combined State plan! You can provide your comments on the WIOA Combined State Plan in two ways: (1) at a WIOA State Plan Public Meeting, and (2) through the Online Comment form.
