FY16 Final Title I, Part A Allocations (Fund Code 305)

Each fiscal year the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) issues final Title I, Part A allocations that incorporate all required adjustments to initial allocations. We are now prepared to release these adjusted allocations for the 2015-16 school year. An Excel workbook accompanying this memorandum lists each district's final FY16 Title I allocation and adjusted amount. Final allocations will also be posted to our grants website at FY2016 Fund Code 305: Title I, Part A. ESE must adjust district allocations each year for several reasons. We are required to reserve funds for adjustments in allocations to charter schools that are new or have significantly expanding enrollments, and redistribute to districts any unused funds from that reservation as well as any funds that were allocated to certain eligible districts but were not claimed. Additionally, twice this year the U.S. Department of Education revised our overall statewide award. As a result of these adjustments, FY16 Title I, Part A allocations for all eligible districts have increased. For most districts the amount of the increase is marginal, with approximately 80 percent of eligible districts receiving an increase of less than $3,000. To claim your district's additional FY16 funds for the 2015-16 school year, please complete and submit an amended grant application by March 31, 2016. If other changes to your Title I grant are needed, please include those changes in this amendment request as well. How to submit an amendment request
  1. Retrieve your district's FY16 amendment-ready workbook from the Title I and Title IIA Grants drop box in Drop Box Central in the ESE Security Portal. If you have not previously submitted an FY16 amendment, use the workbook with the word 'final' at the end of the file name. If you have previously submitted an FY16 amendment, use the workbook with the words 'amendment ready' at the end of the file name.
  2. Complete all yellow boxes on the Title I Amendment worksheet.
  3. Save the workbook and change the file name: replace the word 'final' or 'amendment ready' in the file name with 'AM1' (or AM2, etc., if this is not your first amendment) and upload it to the Title I and Title IIA Grants drop box in the security portal.
  4. Upload a PDF copy of the signed Title I amendment worksheet along with the amended workbook. There is no need to mail a paper copy in addition to the PDF that is uploaded.
