FY16 CB101 Circuit Breaker Claim Training Announcement

To:Superintendents, Charter School Leaders and Special Education Directors, School Business Officials
From:Jay Sullivan, Executive Director, School Finance and District Support
Date:April 12, 2016

In an effort to increase the effectiveness of our annual training for Circuit Breaker claims we are planning to hold Circuit Breaker CB101 Trainings. CB101 is training specifically designed for novices. It is for staff unfamiliar with the claim process. This training is not geared to staff who have previously attended regular Circuit Breaking workshops. The regular annual Circuit Breaker trainings will be scheduled mid May through mid June and they will be posted shortly. We will review the claim workbook including all worksheets and macros buttons, as well as the out of district and in district claim sections of the computer file. We will conduct a basic "hands on" session that will allow the attendee to work on actual examples of simple claims from entering a new student to updating and deleting existing students. We will also discuss the history of circuit breaker, review circuit breaker eligible and ineligible costs and familiarize you with terms used in the program such as placements, approved and unapproved programs and cost shares. And we will discuss circuit breaker dos and don'ts. We have scheduled Circuit Breaker CB101 Trainings at the following locations:
