Statement from Education Commissioner David P. Driscoll on Education Secretary Spellings’ Announcement of Changes to No Child Left Behind

WASHINGTON, D.C. - “I am very pleased with the changes Secretary Spellings has made to No Child Left Behind. When she was confirmed she said she planned to apply flexibility and common sense to the federal law. That is precisely what she has done, without backing away from standards or accountability. I applaud these changes and look forward to working to implement them in Massachusetts.”

Note: A press release on the announcement made today in D.C. and Secretary Spellings’ speech are posted on the U.S. Department of Education’s Web site at www.ed.gov.
