As part of its ongoing effort to bring useful information and promising practices to Massachusetts educators involved in career development education, the Office for College, Career, and Technical Education presents the following menu of 2016-2017 webinars. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, 1–2 PM
Chapter 74 New Program Approval, including Labor Market and Student Demand

The Webinar will provide an orientation to the new Chapter 74 approval process. The new Chapter 74 approval process will be more rigorous and will include a pre-application process (which will also include technical assistance and sample documents from Department staff), and demonstration of the need for the program based upon Labor Market Information and student demand for the program. Collaboration, communication and cooperation between districts will be a emphasized when considering approval for certain types of programs. This marks a new direction in ensuring that Chapter 74 programs meet the needs of the areas the school districts serve, while increasing student access to high quality programs. Early College and Other Postsecondary Linkages

Early college programming incorporates credit-bearing college coursework and academic supports into the high school experience to support increased numbers of students, particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education, to graduate from high school and go on to complete a postsecondary credential with currency in the labor market. This webinar will highlight several components of early college programs, including identifying an industry sector, establishing partnerships, aligning curriculum, offering college credits, engaging employers, and supporting students.
