The Revision of the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework

The Department is finalizing its plans to review and revise the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework Download PDF Document (CHCF).

Panel Application

The Department is soliciting applications for the Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework Review and Revision Panel (Panel). This panel will make recommendations for the revision of the 1999 Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework Download PDF Document.

The Department is seeking a panel that represents broad and diverse perspectives, including multiple racial, ethnic, cultural and religious perspectives to inform the revisions, including:

  • educators who teach comprehensive health, physical education, and family and consumer science in elementary, middle, and high schools;
  • educators in higher education or education faculty who teach college health courses, or health, physical education, or family and consumer science teacher preparation courses;
  • educators of students with disabilities and students who are English language learners;
  • school physical, mental and behavioral health professionals, including school nurses and counselors;
  • district and school administrators, including superintendents, principals, and curriculum coordinators;
  • community members, including parents, students, school committee members, librarians;
  • educators from informal and other educational institutions or agencies who help support students to improve their health knowledge and skills
  • business and medical professionals with experience in the physical, mental and behavioral health fields; and
  • researchers in the fields of health, health education, physical education or family and consumer science.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, November 16, 2018 (**Note: deadline has been extended) The application requires a resume (uploaded through the application form, no more than 2 pages) and a response to the following prompt (of no more than 500 words):

Describe your interest in participating in the process to review and revise the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Framework, and the impact you see an updated Framework having for students in the Commonwealth. Additionally, please include your thoughts on how your background and experience can help to ensure the revised Framework values, respects and leverages students' multiple identities (e.g., race/ethnicity, religious/cultural, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.).

School district personnel should confirm administrative support before applying. The panel will meet for 5–6 days between November 2018 and April 2018. Selected panelists are expected to attend all review panel meetings.
