Notice of Public Comment for the Proposed Amendments to 603 CMR 7.00, Educator Licensure and Preparation Program Approval Regulations

Pursuant to its authority under M.G.L. c. 69, § 1B and c.71, §38G, and in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, M.G.L. c. 30A, § 3, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (Board) is soliciting public comment on the proposed amendments to 603 CMR 7.00, Educator Licensure and Preparation Program Approval Regulations.

In November 2020, the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (Board) first adopted amendments to the Educator Licensure regulations (603 CMR 7.00) that provided certain staffing flexibilities for the 2020-2021 school year. In June 2021 the Board extended those flexibilities for the 2021-2022 school year. The proposed amendments would extend those flexibilities through the 2022-2023 school year.

Written comments on the proposed amendments may be submitted by mail to Tonya Safford, Office of Educator Licensure, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 75 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA 02148, by fax to: 781-338- 3391 or by e-mail to: licensureregs2020@mass.gov . The deadline for submission of public comment is June 3, 2022 at 5pm. The Board is expected to vote on the proposed amendments at its regular monthly meeting scheduled for June 28, 2022.
