Board of Education Grants Three New Charters

MALDEN - Three proposed charter schools were granted their charters on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 when the Board of Education approved their applications and gave them the go-ahead to open their doors in the fall of 2007. The three schools granted approval were: Fall River Maritime Academy Public Charter School. This Commonwealth charter school will be located in Fall River and will serve 80 students in grades 5-8. Pioneer Charter School of Science. This regional Commonwealth charter school will serve 360 students in grades 7-12 from Chelsea, Everett, and Revere. New Bedford Global Learning Charter School. Currently operating as a Horace Mann charter school, the founding group was granted a Commonwealth charter to serve 450 students in grades 5-12 from New Bedford.
