Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL)

New MTEL Features Effective September 2007

Change in ID Requirements: As part of the identity verification process, starting with the September 15, 2007 test administration, each examinee will be required to have a thumbprint taken at the test site. Thumbprints will be used only for the purpose of identity verification. Examinees who do not provide a thumbprint, will not be allowed to test and will not receive a refund or credit of any kind. Obtain more information on identification requirements. Test Fees and Registration: There will be an increase in the test fee of $10 for each test taken. There will also be new test registration options. For the Communication and Literacy Skills Test, examinees will be able to register separately for one subtest (reading or writing) or for both subtests, for each test date. The fee for the reading subtest will be $30, and the fee for the writing subtest will be $40. These registration options will also apply to the subtests of the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test.
