Deadline Approaching for New Teacher Signing Bonus Program
MALDEN - Time is running out for anyone interested in applying this year to the Massachusetts Signing Bonus Program for New Teachers and Massachusetts Institute for New Teachers (MINT). The deadline is Monday, January 28th.
The Massachusetts Signing Bonus Program for New Teachers and the Massachusetts Institute for New Teachers, the training component, is the most aggressive state teacher recruitment campaign in the nation. The program offers selected qualified candidates a $20,000 signing bonus, special training through MINT, assistance securing a teaching position with a participating school district, and ongoing support and professional development. In return, recipients commit to teach in Massachusetts for at least four years. No other state offers signing bonuses for new teachers.
The Massachusetts Signing Bonus Program for New Teachers/MINT looks to recruit current college seniors and recent college graduates with concentrations in math, science and foreign language, as well as mid-career professionals in those fields. Last year, over 1,000 applications were submitted for the program with over 200 people admitted.
Applicants to this program can either receive a signing bonus and scholarship to MINT, or a scholarship to attend the MINT training.
