I am writing to inform you of training opportunities and materials available to administrators and educators this fall.

Administrator Overview Sessions Regarding the Assessment of Students with Disabilities

Administrators are invited to attend one of four Administrator Overview sessions that will focus on assessing students with disabilities on the standard MCAS test and the MCAS-Alt. Sessions will focus on participation, accommodations, the alternate assessment and reporting results. Sessions will be held on September 29-October 2. The registration deadline is September 22.

Educator Training Sessions on the MCAS-Alt

Educators who are conducting the 2010 MCAS-Alt are invited to attend one of the half-day Educators' Training sessions that will be held October 6-9 and October 20-23. Sessions will be provided for educators who are conducting the MCAS-Alt for the first time and for those with previous experience. I strongly encourage you to designate staff, especially those who are conducting the MCAS-Alt for the first time, to attend the appropriate session. Updated materials on current assessment requirements will be distributed. The registration deadline is September 28.

Additional information about these sessions, including information on registration, is available at http://www.doe.mass.edu/mcas/alt/resources.html

Thank you for your attention to these important matters.
