FY2012 Metco Grant Posting
The FY12 Metco grant application and instructions have been posted to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website at http://www.doe.mass.edu/grants/grants12/rfp/317.html. The per pupil allotment for instructional and support services is $3,132. Transportation allotments have been level funded.
For Metco offices closed for the summer, or just for summer vacations, you may apply when you return to school. Funding will be available once the grant is received and approved.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind folks how the grant enrollment is determined. Every public school district submits student enrollment as of October 1 of each school year. The DESE refers to this dataset as the October 1 SIMS; SIMS stands for student information management system. The October 2010 SIMS is used to determine the fiscal year 2012 grant enrollment. If there is an error in the submission, the DESE cannot undo it. The district must correct the data and the window to correct it is between November and December of each reporting year. To be sure your program receives correct grant allotments for fiscal year 2013, and beyond, verify the data your district submits in the fall.
