Upcoming Digital Learning Survey

To:Education Technology Leaders
From:Luis Rodriguez
Date:December 12, 2012

The Office of Digital Learning has received several inquiries around the annual Tech Plan Implementation Report (typically launched in November and due in December). While the ODL Fall Newsletter 2012 did mention we are working to streamline the tool, ODL would like to provide a bit more clarity. Since districts are now providing ESE with district infrastructure and networking data in the PARCC Technology Readiness Tool (TRT), ODL is developing a new Digital Learning Survey which will serve as a replacement for the online Tech Plan Implementation Report. The draft survey is less than 20 questions and the goal of this new survey is to conduct a needs assessment to inform policy-making while minimizing district burden. We expect the Digital Learning Survey to open in mid-January and close at the end of February. Districts will have at least 6 weeks to complete the new survey. We will send another email on how to access the survey closer to the opening date. Note: completion of the Digital Learning Survey, an updated technology plan (through at least June 2014), and submission of PARCC TRT data (due December 14 2012) is required in order to receive a technology plan approval letter for E-Rate. Please contact Baiba Ozols if you have any questions in the interim. A more formal communication will be distributed when the survey is launched. Thank you, and Happy Holidays.
