Schools Operating Without A License
Updated 2/8/06
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has learned that the following schools or entities are operating without a license under either M.G.L. c. 75D, § 2, c. 75C, §2 or Ch. 93 § 2B, which requires that anyone operating a private business, correspondence, or trade school be licensed by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The entities listed below have been notified that they must either apply and obtain a license from the Department or cease operations. The Department is actively working to bring them into compliance with the law. Enrolled students should be aware that an entity's lack of licensure means it is not authorized by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to offer courses or to issue certificates of completion. Additionally, the lack of licensure means that these entities do not have the requisite surety protection to provide students with tuition refunds in the event the entity closes unexpectedly. Students may file complaints against the entities listed below by contacting the Better Business Bureau or the Office of the Attorney General (Consumer Complaint Hotline: 617-727-8400).
