Superintendents, other K-12 education leaders and their designees attended one of five Regional Pandemic Planning Summits during the months of May and June. The purpose of the summits was to provide participants with an opportunity to learn about statewide, regional and local emergency preparedness planning efforts and to begin to identify the specific issues school districts may face in the event of an influenza pandemic. The regional summits provided an overview of the need for "Continuity of Operations Plans" for school districts.
As a follow up to the summits, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has established this Web site. On this site, you will find Frequently Asked Questions that were raised by participants in the Primary and Secondary Education Breakout Sessions as well as links to state, national and international Information and Resources related to pandemic influenza preparedness and all hazards planning.
Local educational agencies play an integral role in protecting the health and safety of their district's staff, students and families. We hope that you find this site useful. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, working in conjunction with the
Department of Public Health and other agencies will update the website periodically. Questions or comments can be emailed to h4s@doe.mass.edu
