Research and Evaluation Advisory Group
The purpose of the Research and Evaluation Advisory Group is to advise the Department in implementing its research agenda.
Its activities include:
Advising the ESE on methodological and technical issues that may arise while developing research projects, writing research proposals, selecting vendors, producing analysis, and reporting results.
Reviewing third-party requests for data for research purposes, to ensure that study designs are rigorous and likely to yield useful analysis for policy and decision-making.
Reviewing selected research reports produced by ESE staff and contractors to ensure their quality and rigor.
Advising on the practicalities of how research projects are implemented in schools.
Identifying potential external resources for advancing the research agenda, such as research grants, student research projects, or interns.
Providing insight on current questions in education policy research where Massachusetts data might be able to shed light on the answers.
Advising on strategies for using the information garnered by research and evaluation in Department policy and program planning.
