Office of Educational Quality and Accountability Replaced by New Office
The Office of Educational Quality and Accountability (EQA) is no longer in operation. By legislation effective August 14, 2008, the Massachusetts Legislature has created an Office of School and District Accountability (SDA) within the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE). SDA now has the function of auditing school districts, among other accountability functions.
These accountability functions are being integrated with targeted assistance and intervention efforts by ESE under Mass. Gen. Laws c. 69. See Mass. Gen. Laws. c. 15, ยง 55A. For information about SDA, please see the March 18, 2009, update on the School and District Accountability and Assistance System on the ESE website.
Reports on audits carried out by EQA between 2002 and 2008 will soon be available on the ESE website within School and District Accountability and Assistance under District Review.
