 Evidence of Effectiveness (written by provider)
Creative Tutorial Solutions employs a comprehensive outcomes measurement system drawing on several sources to assess student progress. Since the afterschool tutoring program focuses on the development of literacy, writing fluency, and numeracy (numerical literacy) through the use of customized curricula, CTS evaluates students when they enter the program, at ten-week intervals after that, and either when students leave the program or at the end of the school year. Improvement is measured each year and across all years of attendance. Pre and Post Tests are administered at the beginning and end of each ten-week session. An analysis of the results reveal the following:

- 100% of students attending the program experienced some improvement overall;
- 60% of the students completely mastered the skill being taught during that session and achieved proficiency of the standard;
- 40% of the students partially mastered the skill being taught; and
- Students who attended on a regular basis year round were more likely to be in the complete mastery category.

Parent Surveys are completed by parents every 10 weeks at the end of the tutoring session. An analysis of the results of the surveys reveals the following about the students who attend the program:

- 96% of the parents reported that their children benefited from the program;
- 54% of the parents reported that their children read books on their own;
- 78% of the parents reported that their children were better able to complete their homework; and
- 85% of the parents reported that their children showed more interest in math.

Report Card Grades are tracked for each student attending the program. An analysis of the grades reveals the following:

- 80% of students attending the program increased their report card grades;
- 30% of the students attending the program increased their report card grade by one full measure in one reporting period i.e. they went from a “D” to a “C”; and
- Students attending the program for at least two years showed significantly higher improvement than those less than two years.

- Terra Nova Standardized Test is administered to the entire Diocese of Worcester student body. An analysis of the Terra Nova results of the students attending the afterschool tutoring program reveals:

- 50% of the students scored above average in Reading;
- 75% of students showed significant improvement in reading comprehension;
- 75% of the students showed significant improvement in mathematics computation; and
- 72% of the students showed significant improvement in mathematical overall
