Dunn lnstitute will provide small group, hands-on instruction with no more than 4-5 children in a group in reading, math, or writing. The reading program is designed to provide instruction in word identification, fluency, and reading comprehension. The math program will focus on individual learning needs utilizing hands-on activities and projects in order to develop a strong foundation in basic math skills and build confidence. The writing program will focus on good sentence structure and paragraphing skills. The program utilizes published materials that have proven to be effective through scientific research and will be chosen based on the needs of the individual learners. The program will help the students be successful with their day-day classroom activities. The reading, writink and math programs are currently being implemented in our SES programs in R.I. and have been quite successful with students who have various learning needs.

Dunn lnstitute has been an SES Provider since 200607 school year. We provideservice tostudents in two school districts in R.I., Providence, and Central Falls. The students in the elementary and middle schools who attended on a regular basis showed positive gains in their test results using various standardized and informal measures. Our post test results in our first year of the program indicated 80% of the students improved as a result of the program. In 2007-2008, 71% of the students showed gains in the area of vocabulary development; 55% of these students increased by more than one grade level over the course of the
semester. In the area of comprehension, 69% of thestudents increased their skills; 63% of these students increased by more than one grade level. In total reading skills, 77% of students showed positive gains; 78% of these students increased by more than one grade level. In 2008-09 in Providence, 55 students were tested and 95% of the students showed positive gains in their overall scores. Our Central Falls program is currently in progress and therefore no post test results are available. Due to the data obtained previously in this community, we are anticipating positive results this year as well. In each of the three years of the program, the student attendance rate has been at 95%.

Dunn lnstitute is a unique program in that we are able to ensure that our tutors, teachers and the parents in the school districts in which we serve receive professional dwelopment throughout their tenure with us in the latest scientifically-based teaching methods. By linking the professional development aspect with the tutoring services that our company provides, Dunn lnstitute will ensure the sustainability of our efforts.

The Dunn lnstitute has received accolades from numerous teachers and parents relative to the benefits of our program. Teachen have praised the staff, "the staff is knowledgeable and has generously accommodated the needs of the children" ..." in only a few months, I have noticed a significant improvement in the students' reading; "I think this program is wonderful and I hope it continues next year; and "I would highly recommend the Dunn Program to other families."
