Supplemental Educational Services

Provider: Attleboro Public Schools

 Provider Details

 Program Description (written by provider)
The Attleboro Public Schools Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Program provides targeted tutoring to those students who have an identified need in reading, writing and/or mathematics. Students receive tutoring before and/or after school in small group settings. Highly qualified tutors use engaging scientifically based materials and strategies designed to accelerate student achievement in reading, writing and mathematics. The academic support SES curriculum is aligned with the Attleboro Public Schools curriculum. The student will have the opportunity to engage in standards-based learning in small learning communities that will help the student build meaningful relationships and connections within the school’s curriculum and environment.
Evidence of Effectiveness (written by provider)
Attleboro Public Schools has more than ten years experience providing successful and innovative before/after school and summer academic support services targeted at the population of students that is at-risk academically, socially and emotionally. Elementary school students are identified for academic support services based upon the use of teacher recommendations, ELA and math baseline assessments, DIBELS and/or MCAS results. Middle school students are identified based upon teacher recommendations, Baseline ELA and Math assessments, Fresh Reads and MCAS results. Attleboro students have continued to make significant progress and gains as evidenced by the most recent 2009 AYP data.

Students and parents who participated in our past programs were enthusiastic about the benefit the tutoring provided. Some students and parents comments are:

** “Thank you for helping my child with reading. She will now pick up a book at night and read it by herself!”
** “My daughter is more confident in math class because she knows her addition & subtraction math facts.”
** “The EveryDay Math games are so much fun to play.”
** “I can raise my hand and answer the questions the teachers ask us in class!”
