 Provider Details

 Program Description (written by provider)
Ann's Christian Learning Center is a faith-based one-on-one and small group tutorial center. We provide tutorial services to students in elementary and middle schools, in Math, Reading, English Language Arts and Writing.

ACLC engages in "Full Circle Learning". This means parents, teachers, principals, students and tutors collaborate constantly regarding each students’ academic needs and progress. This circle of individuals allows all concerned parties to be involved in the teaching and learning process. Our highly qualified staff, the individual attention that each student receives, along with instructions tailored to each student’s specific needs, has resulted in ACLC's proven record of success. We stand by our motto, “Progress Inevitable!”
Evidence of Effectiveness (written by provider)
At Ann's Christian Learning Center (ACLC), student performance data and parent feedback guides our program's plan and development so that we can ensure continued student progress. The student performance data we have collected since our inception in 2001 indicates that our one-on-one tutoring program is effective for all grade levels, subjects, and learning styles. We have entered our second year of small group tutoring and the data continues to indicate that our program is effective for all grade levels, subjects and learning styles. A review of student performance for this academic year 2007 - 2008 reveals that in the area of Math, 100% of our students have improved their Math score by at least 2 grades levels based on our Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI), pre and post test scores. In the area of English, all our students have improved their scores by 1 grade level using the BASI pre and post assessment. The Basic Achievement Skills Inventory (BASI) is a clinically proven assessment tool created by Pearson's Assessment. This assessment complies with national standards in both Math and English for each grade.

Our student performance data in reading shows similar results. Of the students who entered our program this academic year, all of them were reading below grade level. All of these students have improved by at least 1 grade level in reading in less than 4 months, and by 2 grade levels by the end of the program.

99% of our students have been promoted to the next grade. Our quantitative data is supported by parent and teacher feedback. Parents who enroll their child in our program are very pleased with our level of success, as we have noted from our evaluations.

With regarding to the MCAS results, we have had challenges in getting the results from parents or school. One district's, Program Director commented that all the students she sent to ACLC score at least proficient in the subject they were tutored in at ACLC.

School day teachers have commented that they have seen tremendous improvement in our student's performance. Teachers strongly support our program. Not only have we received high commendations from parents and teachers, but also from Program Directors who have tripled the number of students they have sent to us this academic year as compared to the academic year 2006 - 2007 - this is because of the progress they have seen in the students' academic performance and their self esteem.

To date, most of our students have graduated from our program within 1.5 years and have been able to maintain at least a B average in subjects for which they have been tutored as they move forward in their academic careers. For the students who we've tutored that are several grade levels behind, we are able to graduate these students in an average of two academic years. The bottom line is still the same - all students are able to work on grade level and receive a report card grade that reflects proficiency even after graduation from the ACLC program.
