| Program Description (written by provider) |
| C & M Educational Connections and Consulting (CMECC) is a tutoring and community-based support services organization founded as an Educational Consultant and Advocacy organization in 2006 by a former inclusion and transitional middle school math teacher and educator of the Boston Public Schools District, who recognized the need for a research-based after school program for students struggling with reading, writing and math skills. All instructions are directed by instructors, who are trained to implement a curriculum that supports CMECC educational philosophy. CMECC’s educational approach supports the whole child model for learning and is skilled in working with an array of student learners. This hands-on approach allows CMECC to design the individual student learning plan to meet the academic needs of the diverse population of students that it serves. In 2008 CMECC adopted the name T.H.R.I.V.E., to illustrate its mission to help at-risk children and youth achieve, to their absolute fullest potential. The T.H.R.I.V.E. Program offers a year-round tutorial-based curriculum providing tutoring for remediation and enrichment in reading, ELA, Phonemic Awareness and math via one-on-one and small group and computer-assisted instruction to Grades 1-6 students in a safe, structured, and engaging environment. We offer private sessions in the comfort of student's home, community center, local library or church; and small school- and center-based programming tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. CMECC’s SES program use research-based curricula, such as the Achieve Assessment to identify the strengths and weaknesses of students, which allows instructors to know exactly where students are academically shortly after administering the test and the Curriculum Associates Series, which enables students to improve reading comprehension, writing, basic math, problem solving and critical thinking skills at their own pace in a user-friendly way. |
