Massachusetts Tiered System of Support (MTSS)

Using These Materials in the Leadership Team

This series of activities and discussions in the protocols have been developed based on a belief that spending time together first as a team, learning and developing a clear vision of the work of supporting students with disabilities in mathematics, will result in a more successful roll-out of various school-wide efforts that result from a team's work. These protocols can be used both to support the team's work together and as a series of professional development activities that can be re-created with colleagues.

It is highly recommended that these leadership teams include, as a minimum, a mathematics specialist (a coordinator, coach or teacher leader, for example), a special education specialist, the building principal and a district administrator with decision-making authority. Teams may also include additional math or special education personnel, or administrators.
