Guidance for Implementing IDEA 2004

Early Intervening/Instructional Support Services

	Statutory Language - Please note that in Massachusetts we will be using the phrase "Instructional Support Services" in place of the federal "Early Intervening" language. On the left side we have provided you with the actual language from the statute. All of the bolded language is new language. The right side contains the summary of the new provisions, which includes important key points in more user-friendly language.
	Key Points - We have highlighted for you seven key points to keep in mind regarding Early Intervening/ Instructional Support Services.
	Notice of Intent to Use Federal Special Education Entitlement Funds - IF your district decides to use IDEA 2004 funds under this new provision please contact the Special Education Planning and Policy Development Office. We will provide technical assistance to districts that elect to use funds under this new provision.
