Cohort Sample Activity Overview for the 2018–2019 School Year:

Cohort 1
  • Fall 2018 and Spring 2019, districts will collect and report both entry and exit data for preschool children with IEPs in order to measure positive social-emotional relationships, early learning, and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs (Indicators 7A and 7B).
  • Spring/Summer 2019, districts will administer a post-school outcomes survey to all students with IEPs who exited school the previous year and report data to DESE (Indicator 14B).
Cohort 2
  • Spring 2019, districts will collect contact information from 2018–2019 exiters with IEPs in preparation for the Spring 2020 14B data collection. There is no DESE reporting requirement for Indicator 14A.
Cohort 3
  • Spring 2019, in order to measure positive social-emotional relationships, early learning, and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs, districts will collect and report exit data for preschool children with IEPs that exited during the 2018–2019 school year, received at least six months of special education services, and for whom the district collected entry data on in the Spring of 2018 (Indicator 7B).
Cohort 4
  • Spring 2019, in order to measure positive social-emotional relationships, early learning, and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs, districts will collect and report exit data for preschool children with IEPs that exited during the 2018–2019 school year, received at least six months of special education services and the district provided entry data to the department on in the Spring of 2017 (Indicator 7B).
  • Fall 2018 — Complete Special Education Program Plan statement — Due October 1, 2018.
