Financial Literacy Advisory Committee

The Financial Literacy Advisory Committee was established through legislation in July 2012 to advise the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) on the development of a 3-year pilot financial literacy pilot program for 10 high schools in gateway municipalities. This competitive grant program is designed to equip high school students with the knowledge and skills needed to become self-supporting and to enable students to make critical decisions regarding personal finances. The advisory committee is co-chaired by the Commissioner of the ESE and the State Treasurer, or their designees; it includes members from the office of consumer affairs and business regulation, the council on economic education, public school districts, financial organizations, professional associations and unions, and higher education institutions in the Commonwealth.
