NEWS ALERT: No new funds will be available for Title V, Part A grants in FY09 (school year 2008-2009). For more details regarding carryover funds from FY08 and transferring funds into Title V in FY09, see the April 4, 2008 Commissioner's Memo.
Title V Overview: This federal Innovative Programs formula grant supports education reform efforts; innovation based on scientific research; the purchase of instructional, library, and media materials; and the implementation of programs to improve student, teacher, and school performance. Funds have been awarded (through FY08) to each public school district based on K-12 enrollment combined with the enrollment of private non-profit schools in the community that participated in Title V the prior year, with an adjustment to provide higher per-pupil allocations to school districts with higher percentages of students from economically disadvantaged families.
