The Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education
Progress Report on Educator Evaluation
The special meeting of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education on Monday, April 22, 2013, will focus on implementation of the new educator evaluation system. We will review briefly what the regulations require, the timeline, progress to date, and the support the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) is providing for districts. Five practitioners will share with the Board their experience with the new system, including what is working well in their districts, the challenges, and specific strategies they are using:
- Russell Johnston, Superintendent, West Springfield Public Schools
- Beth Kaake, Teacher, Fitchburg Public Schools
- Christina Porter, Director of Humanities, Revere Public Schools
- Dr. Kristan Rodriguez, Asst. Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, Chelmsford Public Schools
- Ross Wilson, Asst. Superintendent, Office of Educator Effectiveness, Boston Public Schools
We have included the following materials for your information:
