The Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education
Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education (MBAE) Educational Benchmarking Study and Policy Report
At the March 24, 2014 special meeting of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, we will hear a presentation on an educational benchmarking study and policy report commissioned by the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education (MBAE).
MBAE commissioned Brightlines, a team of international education experts led by Sir Michael Barber, to conduct a review of education in Massachusetts using the world's best systems as the benchmark. The Brightlines team focused on answering two questions:
- Where does Massachusetts stand against the best educational systems in the world?
- What would it take for Massachusetts to become the best in the world at educating students for informed citizenship and productive employment in the 21st century?
MBAE will release its report on March 24, and we will distribute it to the Board on that date. At our special meeting, MBAE Chair Henry Dinger and Executive Director Linda Noonan, along with Sir Michael Barber and Simon Day from Brightlines, will present the report to the Board. We will reserve ample time for discussion, questions, and comments from Board members.
