Learning Adventures with Commissioner Jeffrey C. Riley

As a teacher for many years, I enjoyed exciting activities that really engaged my students and made learning fun for them. I have shared some of these lessons with students in classrooms across the state.

Below are a couple of my favorite activities. They’re easy to set up and teach. Feel free to try them out with your students at school and your children at home.

  • Being Michelangelo (4 mins.). Considered one of the greatest artistic accomplishments in the world, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel represents not only a creative wonder, but a tribute to human perseverance. What can we learn from this masterpiece?

  • Bat Lab (6 mins.). The pieces of an ecosystems are inextricably linked. How do we determine and measure the influence of our decisions on our environment?
