The Educator Preparation Evaluation Tool is the centerpiece of DESE's review system. It makes explicit the criteria from the Program Approval Standards and Effectiveness Indicators against which all Sponsoring Organizations (SOs) are evaluated.
This evidence-based model triangulates data from three sources: offsite, onsite and output measures. With the inclusion of output measures, DESE aims to ensure that preparation in MA results in effective educators ready to support the success of all students on day one.
These tools are designed to complement and strengthen all other aspects of the review including: the function and effectiveness of reviewers; the preparation of a streamlined submission of materials by the Sponsoring Organization (SO); and ultimately, the recommendation of an approval status made to the Commissioner.
