FY2020: K-2 Accountability Pilot

Purpose:

The targeted funds for the K–2 accountability pilot will allow the DESE to partner with two districts to pilot a new approach to considering grades K-2 in the district and school accountability system. These two districts will train teachers on administering quality performance assessments and collect data on student outcomes that can be used in lieu of a typical "achievement" measure in a district and school accountability system.

Priorities:

To allow teachers to be trained on offering high-quality performance assessments and collect performance data on such assessments.

Eligibility:

Attleboro and Milford have agreed to participate in the pilot for DESE by preparing to collect on information on K–2 student baseline and outcome data on student performance assessments.

Funding Type:

State funding — 7061–9408

Funding:

Approximately $20,000 – $13,000 for Milford and $7,000 for Attleboro

Funding is contingent upon availability. All dollar amounts listed are estimated/approximate and are subject to change. If more funding becomes available it will be distributed under the same guidelines that appear in this RFP document.

Fund Use:

To be used for teacher training on administering student performance assessments and collection of data to be sent to DESE at end of school year.

Applying districts are required to submit a short narrative describing the use of funds for the project.

Submission Instructions:

Submit all required grant materials through EdGrants
In EdGrants, districts are required to create and name the project. Please use the following naming convention for your "Applicant Project Name" in EdGrants: FY20 FC223 K2 Pilot Applicant Name

All items listed under the required forms section of this RFP should be uploaded / attached in the Attachments List formlet of the Application Submission in EdGrants. This includes a signed / scanned PDF of Part I / Coversheet with Superintendent's signature as well as Schedule A form, if applicable to your district. The final budget the applicant is requesting will be entered directly into EdGrants as part of the application submission process.

Please note: It is up to the district to determine who they want to add as EdGrants Front Office users in order to submit grant application as well as payment request information.
