Purpose:

The purpose of this federally funded Career/Vocational Technical education (CTE) Student Organization continuation grant program is to help participating students prepare for success after high school in the field of education. The Strengthening Career and Technical Education in the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) permits funds to be used to support CTE Student Organization programs for the continuous improvement of Career/Vocational Technical education in Massachusetts.

Priorities:

The priorities for the grant include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a teacher preparation program geared towards secondary students.

  • Addressing the diversity gap in education by preparing a future of diverse educators to be successful in the education field.

  • Curating resources for students and educators

  • Working directly with districts as needed.

  • Closing the proficiency gap for underserved student populations.
    • Increasing the number of special needs students participating in the program, including students with disabilities; students with limited proficiency in English; students from economically disadvantaged families; students that are single parents and/or pregnant; and students pursuing careers that are nontraditional for their gender.
    • Increasing student outcomes on the Perkins V secondary-level core indicators of performance.
