Investigating History Preview Materials

As you consider adopting Investigating History next year, we are excited to share some sample materials from each grade level of the curriculum to help inform your decision.

These materials reflect the curriculum as of its 2022-23 pilot; the curriculum is currently undergoing revisions based on pilot teacher feedback, as well as a final round of scholar review, and as such, the versions released for the 2023-24 school year may be slightly different from those shared here. These draft materials are intended to help educators make informed decisions about adopting Investigating History by providing information about the curriculum's scope and sequence as well as examples of its key instructional features and pedagogical approach.

We currently anticipate publishing final versions of each unit according to the following schedule:

  • Grades 5–7, Unit 1: June 2023
  • Grades 5–7, Unit 2 and Grade 7, Unit 3: August 2023
  • Grades 5 and 6, Unit 3 and Grade 7, Unit 4: October 2023
  • Grades 5 and 6, Unit 4 and Grade 7, Unit 5: January 2024

Please email InvestigatingHistory@mass.gov with any questions about these materials. To receive email updates as the curriculum becomes available, please sign up here.
