Brief Description of Services
Jonathan Hulting-Cohen and Felipe Salles of the University of Massachusetts offer this professional development designed for any band or general music teacher 7-12 working with advancing saxophonists. This 10-hour/two-day PD course is designed to help teachers gain a better understanding of saxophone technique and pedagogy in both a classical and jazz setting. Throughout these sessions, teachers will learn best practices for teaching traditional and contemporary saxophone technique, and repertoire. Teachers will also learn the pedagogy jazz transcriptions by going through the process themselves on their primary instrument. Participants will also engage with professionals in the fields of both jazz and classical music. The final project will be a simulated teaching video incorporating lessons from throughout the festival. For more information about this PD offering, please refer to the contact information listed
