Cohort Sample Activity Overview for the 2020–2021 School Year:

Cohort 1

  • Spring 2021, in order to measure positive social-emotional relationships, early learning, and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs, districts will collect and report exit data (Indicator 7B) for preschool children with IEPs who exited during the 2020-2021 school year, received at least six months of special education services and the district provided entry data to the department on in the Fall of 2018 (Indicator 7A).

Cohort 2

  • Fall 2020 — Complete Special Education Program Plan statement — Due October 1, 2020.
  • Spring 2021, in order to measure positive social-emotional relationships, early learning, and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs, districts will collect and report exit data (Indicator 7B) for preschool children with IEPs who exited during the 2020-2021 school year, received at least six months of special education services, and for whom the district collected entry data on in the Fall of 2019 (Indicator 7A).

Cohort 3

  • Spring 2021, districts will collect contact information from 2020-2021 exiters with IEPs in preparation for the Spring 2022 14B data collection and reporting. There is no DESE reporting requirement for Indicator 14A information collection. Districts also have no Indicator 7 responsibilities this school year.

Cohort 4

  • Fall 2020 and Spring 2021, districts will collect and report both entry and exit data for preschool children with IEPs in order to measure positive social-emotional relationships, early learning, and using appropriate behaviors to meet their needs (Indicators 7A and 7B).
  • Spring/Summer 2021, districts will administer a post-school outcomes survey to all students with IEPs who exited school the previous year and report data to DESE (Indicator 14B).
