Plans of High School Graduates: Class of 2002
Vocational-Technical Schools
6,226 students graduated from Massachusetts public vocational-technical schools in 2002. Of these graduates, 47 percent planned on working, 24 percent planned to attend a two-year college, and 13 percent planned to attend a four-year college. Four percent of these graduates intended to enter the military, two percent planned to attend some other type of post-secondary institution, two percent reported having plans other than those listed above, and data was not available for the remaining eight percent (Figure 9).

Charter Schools
Of the 12 charter schools reporting graduates in 2002, there were a total of 361 graduates. Of this total, 69 percent planned to attend a 4-year college, 17 percent planned to attend a 2-year college, six percent intended to work, and two percent planned to enter the military. Additionally, two percent planned to attend some other type of post-secondary institution, one percent had plans other than those listed above, and data was not available for three percent (Figure 10).

Reporting by Individual Schools and Districts
Consistent with past reports, the data table beginning on page 9 presents the Plans of High School Graduates: Class of 2002 by district and school. The schools in this data table are classified as follows:
- Academic High Schools (A) – offer academic courses, both college preparatory and general.
- Comprehensive High Schools (C) – offer academic courses and at least five Chapter 74 approved occupational education programs.
- Vocational High Schools (V) – offer Chapter 74 approved vocational-technical education programs.
