Adult Basic Education Distance Learning- Instructional Hub
Fund Code: 669

Purpose:The purpose of this grant program is to establish and support distance learning instructional hubs in order to increase access to, and the intensity of, educational services for eligible adult learners, and strengthen their technology skills in preparation for college and careers.
Priorities: The priority is to support programs that:
  1. provide online instruction supported by face-to-face services at the Community Adult Learning Center to implement a blended model of distance learning; and,

  2. collaborate with and provide guidance to ESE-funded Community Adult Learning Centers in the delivery of services.

Eligibility:FY 18 is the final continuation year grant. All recipients awarded in the FY2013 Open and Competitive process are eligible to apply.

Funding is contingent upon availability. All dollar amounts listed are estimated/approximate and are subject to change. If more funding is to become available it will be distributed under the same guideline as listed in the initial RFP document.

Fund Use:Funds must be used for ABE services that are designed in accordance with the Guidelines for Effective Distance Learning in Adult Basic Education Programs.
Match: A minimum of 20 percent fully auditable matching contribution is required. The availability of existing computer hardware, telecommunications networks, video technology, and elements of a successful distance learning program through a matching contribution is preferred; however, these costs are also allowable as expenses to be charged to the grant. Applicants must itemize their matching contribution on Schedule B and include a match narrative.

Guidelines for Effective Distance Learning in Adult Basic Education Programs

Submission Instructions: Grantees must use the online grants information system; Paper submissions will no longer be accepted.

Submit all required grant materials through the EdGrants website.

In EdGrants, applicants are required to create and name the project. Please use the following naming convention for your "Applicant Project Name" in EdGrants:

      (no acronyms, please)
