Career Services Expenses Survey — due June 30, 2019

June 11, 2019

Dear Program Director,

The Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires that all state partner agencies, including adult education, report the cost of career and training services each program year. For adult education, there are three kinds of activities that constitute career services:

  • Outreach, intake, and orientation
  • Initial assessment (pretests)
  • Referrals and coordination of services

I am writing to ask you to calculate the number of staff hours and enter the cost associated with each activity in this survey. We are reporting the costs associated with activities for all your adult education students, not only for shared customers or for students with career goals.

Note that initial assessments are just pretests. However, all associated costs are to be included: planning, materials, and test administration, correcting, and data entry.

Include outstation staff time when calculating referrals and coordination of services.

I appreciate that this is not the easiest request since most of these activities happened last fall. Please respond to the survey by June 30.

Thank you,

Wyvonne Stevens-Carter
Adult Education State Director
