The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Department) has concluded its Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces (ALEKS) pilot study. In order to continue its support to current and future educators of mathematics who are taking the MTEL #03, #53, or #47 test, the Department is making available free three-month subscriptions to the ALEKS software, a web-based tutorial program. The subscriptions are available on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last.
After an initial adaptive diagnostic assessment, ALEKS will provide each participant with a summary report that can guide the participant's use of the learning mode tutorial where the program provides detailed explanations, opportunities for practice, and tracks the mastery of concepts and skills. Please note that although the ALEKS system addresses some of the same content as the MTEL mathematics tests, it is not specifically designed for or aligned with the MTEL mathematics test objectives or test items.
To take advantage of this opportunity, MTEL #03, #53, and #47 test takers are encouraged to visit: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/1024142/ALEKS-Survey-for-2012-2013-Free-Account-for-MTEL-mathematics-takers and take the survey.
