To:Charter School Leaders, Business Managers, and Registrars
From:Joanna Laghetto, Office of Charter School and School Redesign
Date:November 12, 2021

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Department) is collecting estimated enrollment data for school year 2022-2023 to be used for the FY2023 state budget. The collection will be done using the Charter School Pre-Enrollment Estimate online application in the Department's Security Portal.

We will be collecting the total estimated FY2023 enrollment only. No town or grade information is required. This information must be submitted by all Commonwealth and Horace Mann charter schools by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.

Note about pending expansion requests: For this submission, any charter school with a pending amendment to increase their enrollment or grade span must report only their currently approved, expected FY2023 Enrollment. Do not assume that the amendment will be granted for this collection.

Note about the minimum and maximum parameters that are based on chartered maximum enrollment and grade span: Schools will be unable to submit pre-enrollment estimate data that is outside of the minimum or maximum number of students allowed by the application. If you believe that the parameters are incorrect, please contact me at Joanna.C.Laghetto@mass.gov or 781-873-9521.

Do you have questions or need assistance? If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact me at Joanna.C.Laghetto@mass.gov or 781-873-9521 or James DiMaio at James.DiMaio2@mass.gov . Thank you in advance for your attention to this important collection.
