Special Education Leadership Institutes – Information and Applications Available

The Special Education Planning and Policy (SEPP) unit has awarded multi-year contracts to develop a series designed to support and train special education district leadership staff using the Guidelines and the Massachusetts Model System for Educator Evaluation, Part III: Guide to Rubrics and Model Rubrics for Superintendent, Administrator, and Teacher, which was adapted for special education. Each Leadership Institute is free to participants and are at least 62 contact hours over the course of the school year. Highlights of the Institutes include opportunities for district special education leaders to network with one another; apply concepts of systemic change to improve student outcomes, especially for students with disabilities; and understand legal requirements and implementation of evidence-based practices for creating inclusive environments in Massachusetts, providing instruction that promotes access to and participation in high-quality education, and building responsive environments. The four new Special Education Leadership Institutes and the contract information are below.
