stopline

As required by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE), Office for Food and Nutrition Programs will provide training opportunities specific to the meal pattern in addition to general program operations for Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17) CACFP sponsoring organizations.

The updated meal standards for the CACFP are now available for Children, Infants, and Adults. All CACFP sponsors must comply with the new meal pattern requirements no later than October 1, 2017. Please be advised that at this time, there are no allowable changes to the current meal patterns. The State agency will issue additional guidance to help sponsors meet the full compliance expectation date of October 1, 2017.

Documented completion of either the Distance Learning or In-Person Workshop New Meal Pattern Training Track is strongly recommended for each sponsoring organization. Attendance at other trainings is encouraged and will help ensure sponsoring organizations ability to successfully administer the CACFP. The new meal pattern training track options in addition to FY 17 policy updates will be reviewed during the FY 17 CACFP Update and Review Webinar.

Registration is required for all trainings as space is limited to two people per sponsoring organization. Unregistered participants will be accommodated based on available space; participation is not guaranteed without confirmation of registration. A "Certificate of Participation" with total training hours documented is available for registered participants who have confirmed attendance for a completed training. Sponsoring agencies who would like three or more people to participate in either meal pattern training track must receive approval from ESE. Requests can be submitted to Denise Courtney at dcourtney@doe.mass.edu.

For registration assistance please contact Marisol Montes by telephone at 781-338-6480 or by email at mmontes@doe.mass.edu. For any questions related to training contact Denise Courtney at 781-338-6467 or by email at dcourtney@doe.mass.edu. You will receive confirmation of your training registration via email.
