FY17 CB102 Circuit Breaker Claim Training Announcement

To:Superintendents, Charter School Leaders and Special Education Directors, School Business Officials
From:Jay Sullivan, Associate Commissioner
Date:May 5, 2017

This memorandum announces our annual spring Circuit Breaker training schedule. We provide these trainings to assist districts as they prepare to claim FY17 Special Education costs for reimbursement. Individual district files are ready for download in the SPED File Exchange area of the Department's Security Portal.

This year we will begin offering a Circuit Breaker Webinar Series. This series will include two Webinars, one for In District Claiming and one for Out of District Claiming. These Webinars will provide an overview of each type of claiming. Please register for the series. (Only one person at a time can be registered. In order to register an additional person or another session, the user must close all browser windows and start again.) Please register for both the In District Webinar and the Out of District Webinar.

We will also be providing hands on training; these trainings will strictly cover maneuvering through the file and understanding the mechanics of how the file works. These trainings will no longer have a lecture component (attend Webinars). Please register for hands on training.

We also plan to set aside an hour at the end of each training for a "Drop In" session. Staff will be available to answer any specific claiming questions you may have. If you plan to only attend the Drop In session, please email cbdropin@gmail.com.

During our Extraordinary Relief trainings, attendees asked if they were required to attend our regular trainings. Those that attended our relief training may find these trainings to be redundant.

Each training session will last approximately 2 hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early for registration. Trainings will commence promptly at the designated times listed on the registration page.
