Update — SMARTT to LACES Transition

October 5, 2018

Dear Program Directors,

The transition to LACES is continuing. Most of the project milestones have been met as planned, including training, MAPT integration, and the bulk of the data migration. Because of unexpected technical challenges, the following are delayed:

  • The waitlist functionality and waitlist data migration are taking longer than expected.
  • Aligning the LACES architecture with sites has delayed access to a couple of multisite programs.
  • In addition, logon credentials have been processed much slower than we hoped.

Literacy Pro System's National Training and Project Manager, Shannon Stangis has created a helpful guide Download Word Document specifically for Massachusetts to address specific migration and getting started issues. It will be incorporated in the comprehensive user documentation that she described in the training.

Shannon's document notes that there you may see students with the status enrolled because their tutor-match was never dissolved. We are working with LPS to modify these records.

The MAPT integration is complete and functioning just as in SMARTT with one important difference. Unlike SMARTT, LACES requires that students be enrolled in a current fiscal year class or paired with a tutor before it can generate MAPT IDs.

ACLS and LPS thank you for your patience.

Wyvonne Stevens-Carter
Acting State Adult Education Director
