The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is offering a series of webinars regarding IDEA regulations on significant disproportionality by race and ethnicity in special education identification, placement, and discipline. The webinars will discuss how the Department will calculate, identify, and work with schools and districts to implement the regulations, beginning in Fiscal Year 20.



Significant Disproportionality Introductory Webinar:

The Department will address IDEA regulations on significant disproportionality by race and ethnicity in special education identification, placement, and discipline. The webinar will serve as an introduction to how the Department will calculate, identify, and work with schools and districts to implement the regulations, beginning in Fiscal Year 20.

Significant Disproportionality Calculations Webinar:

The Department will review significant disproportionality calculations and the agency's plan to notify districts that have significant disproportionality in special education identification, placement, and/or discipline by race and ethnicity.

Significant Disproportionality Fiscal Responsibilities Webinar:

The Department will discuss the requirements that districts identified as having significant disproportionality reserve 15 percent of federal IDEA Part B funds for Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CCEIS) to address the disproportionality. This requirement will impact Fund Codes 240 and 262 for identified districts, beginning with the FY 21 grant cycle.
