Licensure Welcome Center Opens on June 23, 2021

With the recent end of the state of emergency as announced by Governor Charlie Baker, Commissioner Jeffrey Riley is pleased to announce that the Licensure Welcome Center at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education located at 75 Pleasant Street in Malden will be open as of Wednesday, June 23rd.

The Licensure Welcome Center is able to assist educators who have questions about obtaining a license, advancing a license or adding an additional license. The only difference between the face-to-face service available at the Welcome Center and the Licensure Call Center is the ability to drop off a document rather than uploading the document into ELAR or mailing it.

The Licensure Welcome Center will be open each business day from 8:45 AM – 4:45 PM, and visitors must present a government issued photo identification. The Licensure Call Center is open each business day from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM at 781-338-6600.

The Office of Educator Licensure is pleased to report that during the pandemic all services and functions remained operational with the exception of the Welcome Center. Since April of 2020, the office answered over 54,400 inquiries through the Call Center, evaluated over 109,300 applications resulting in the issuance of over 35,700 licenses and endorsements while having over 14,000 educators renew over 17,800 professional licenses.
