Important Notice Concerning Vocational Technical Educator Licensure - Expiration of the 1991 Regulations Route, also known as "1991 Pathway"

Expiration of the 1991 Regulations Route aka the "1991 Pathway"

The 1991 Regulations Route expires on September 1, 2006. This Route allows for individuals with Provisional Vocational Approval (now known as the Preliminary Vocational Technical Teacher license) to qualify for the Professional Vocational Technical Teacher license, by meeting the requirements for Full Vocational Approval (24 credits in Department-approved professional education courses) by September 1, 2006. Individuals that do not meet the requirements for the 24 credits by September 1, 2006, would be required to meet the requirements for 39 credits (21 Department-approved professional education courses plus certain English, mathematics and science courses) in order to qualify for the Professional Vocational Technical Teacher license. Plan enrollment in the required courses with the September 1, 2006 deadline in mind if the 1991 Regulations Route is selected. Note that the application for the Professional license must be filed and the fee submitted by September 1, 2006 in order to be licensed under the 1991 Regulations Route.

Professional Vocational Technical Educator License Renewal

Professional Vocational Technical Educator licenses are required to be renewed every five years. Please be aware of the license renewal requirements, including the requirements for PDPs, because license renewal dates are quickly approaching.

  • On September 1, 2003, many individuals possessed Full Vocational Approval that became comparable to the Professional Vocational Technical Educator license. The first license renewal date for these educators is on their first birthday after five years have elapsed since September 1, 2003. For example, an individual with Full Vocational Approval in Office Technology whose birthday is January 8 would have a license renewal date of January 8, 2009. This individual's license renewal date would remain on January 8 every five years thereafter.

  • Many individuals have been issued a Professional Vocational Technical Educator License since September 1, 2003. The license renewal date is on their birthday as printed on the license.
